Public Access

Web-888 can publish a direct IP address, a Dynamic DNS hostname, or a hostname provided through its reverse-proxy service. Configure the advertised address under Admin > Connect and ports, interface addressing, and optional automatic NAT under Admin > Network.

The URL to connect to your SDR shown on the Connect page is authoritative. Copy that generated URL instead of constructing one from examples.

Which Method to Choose

  • Public IPv4 address - forward a router port to Web-888.
  • Dynamic public IPv4 address - use the built-in NO-IP DUC and forward a router port.
  • No usable inbound public address - use the Web-888 reverse proxy.

Direct Public IP

If the receiver has a public IPv4 address, select Use public IP address on the Connect page. Web-888 uses the address it detects; this option does not provide a field for typing a different address.

If you must advertise a specific address or DNS name, select Use specified domain name or IP address and enter it there.

For an Internet router, forward the chosen External port to the receiver's current LAN address and Internal port. The default internal and external port is 8073. Alternatively, enable Auto add NAT rule on firewall / router if the router supports the required automatic mapping.

Dynamic DNS

The Connect page includes a NO-IP Dynamic Update Client:

  1. Create a NO-IP account and hostname.
  2. Enter the DUC user, password, and hostname.
  3. Select Click to start/restart DUC.
  4. Select Use domain name from DUC configuration below as the connection source.
  5. Configure router port forwarding or automatic NAT on the Network page.

The DUC status and the generated listener URL show whether the hostname is ready for use. Free NO-IP hostnames may require periodic confirmation under NO-IP's current account policy.

Reverse Proxy

Select Use domain name from reverse proxy configuration below, enter the assigned key and hostname, and start the reverse-proxy connection. The current proxy suffix is shown directly beside the hostname field; the server default is proxy.rx-888.com.

For example, a configured hostname of example normally produces:

http://example.proxy.rx-888.com

Do not use legacy .p.rx-888.com or country-prefixed examples. The generated URL on the current Connect page accounts for the configured proxy port and is the value to publish.

The receiver serial number required for support or proxy provisioning is displayed on Admin > Status, not the Network page.

Ports and Restarts

The Internal port is the TCP port on which Web-888 listens and can be changed. It defaults to 8073 and requires a server restart. The External port describes the router-side port used for direct IP or DUC access; it does not reconfigure a router unless automatic NAT succeeds.

The reverse proxy normally supplies its own external port. If that port is not 80, the generated Connect URL includes it.

Public Receiver Listing

The Admin > Public page controls registration in the Web-888 public receiver directory. Registration requires a usable Connect URL, public addressing, valid coordinates, and enough password-free receiver capacity. The page reports unmet requirements instead of silently publishing an unusable receiver.
